Summary of creating a simple DIY desk shelf on a low budget.
Why I Made a DIY Desk Shelf
- Ready-made products were expensive
- Couldn't find products with the desired width, height, and depth dimensions
Materials
IRIS OHYAMA Color Decorative Shelf Board LBC-925 Black
I chose this because it had good dimensions - 90cm width and 25cm depth - and came in black.
Height-Adjustable Legs
It's from an unknown manufacturer, but it has good stability after installation and I think it's adequate for the purpose.
It's an all-in-one package that includes 4 legs and screws, which was convenient.
According to reviews, there seem to be some defective units, so please be careful.
Tools
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Awl
The product information suggests it can be attached with just a screwdriver, but the board was hard, so I needed to drill holes.
Construction Method
Simply decide where to attach the legs, drill holes, and attach with screws
It was very simple and took about 30 minutes including the time to unpack and prepare tools.
Additional Notes
The legs are telescopic and can be adjusted from 8cm to 12cm, but they start to wobble when extended to maximum length. If you want to use it at 12cm height, I think you should consider getting the next size up or different legs.
That's all - I hope this is helpful as a reference.
