This article covers the reasons and solutions for when Lambda is not triggered after putting a video file into S3.

Lambda is not triggered for files over 8MB uploaded to S3

It seems that files larger than 8MB are not triggering the Lambda function.

Solution

  1. Open the S3 console
  2. Select the bucket
  3. Go to the Properties tab
  4. Edit Event Notifications
  5. Check the option for Multipart Upload

Conclusion

Multipart Upload is a feature that allows you to split and upload a single object in parts.

It seems like a useful feature when dealing with issues such as long upload times for large files, so I’d like to dive deeper into it when the opportunity arises.
